Amidst pomp, pageantry, drumming, singing, dancing excitements, with full conviviality, the razzmatazz of the klieg lights will this morning fully beamed, seamlessly on that illustrious son of Esa Oke kingdom, Dr. Edward Omotosho, a scion of the LoogunSaode’s dynasty and his delectable spouse, Florence.
Today, Saturday April 19, Eddy Omotoso, the news hunter, the man behind the “Letters from America” in the defunct Daily Sketch and Daily Times, will become the news hunted. The Balogun of news, worldwide, will thus become the Balogun of the Esa Oke Kingdom.
This is as the United States retired diplomat, journalist, lawyer, and his spouse will be conferred with the high chieftaincy titles of Balogun and Yeye Balogun of Esa Oke Kingdom by the paramount ruler of Esa Oke Kingdom, HRM Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, AtipaOwaji 11, the Owamiran of Esa Oke.
Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, AtipaOwaji 11, the Owamiran of Esa Oke, will lead the Owamiran-in-Council members other chiefs to the Courtyard of his Palace where the new Chiefs will be installed.
The new Balogun and Yeye Balogun would be escorted to the Courtyard of the Owamiran palace with the customary 21-gun salute by the Loode of Esa Oke, leading his troops of hunters.
An obviously elated Balogun toldwww.esaoketodayonline.com in a chat that “it is my distinct honour today, to be officially conferred with the prestigious chieftaincy title of Balogun of Esa Oke Land.
“I accept the honour with tremendous appreciation, profound respect and great humility. Please join me to thank God for His mercies”, he said joyously.
He also extends his appreciation to the Owamiran and his High Chiefs for the honour done others chieftaincy recipients, especially his spouse.
“I thank you very much for bestowing upon my spouse of 58 years, Mrs. Florence Ayo Omotoso, the Chieftaincy title of Yeye Balogun of Esa Oke Land. Thank you very much for honoring of us”, he said..
Looking radiant and pleased, he further showed his appreciation to the Owamiran and his High Chief, saying, “please accept our deep appreciation and gratitude for the honours you have bestowed upon us”.
He then dwelt on the “positive side-effect of making me Balogun”.
He continued, “since my childhood, Esa Oke indigenes have been perplexed by my name, “Edward Omotoso”; especially those who didn’t speak English. Because it was difficult for them the pronounce “Edward”, they called me “E di woordu”. Or, in Yoruba: “that one with the “oyinbo” name.” Now they can easily say “Balogun Omotoso’.
He therefore pledge his unalloyed loyalty and commitment to the “Royal Majesty, the OwaOwamiran-in-Council, the Iwarefa and all the great people of Esa-Oke land, my strong dedication and commitment to the task of uplifting our Town”.
