
Mrs. Cecilia Kehinde Ijitona, Deputy Rector, Osun State College of Technology, (OSCOTECH) Esa Oke, Osun State.
The announcement of the re-election of Mrs Cecillia Kehinde Ijitona – nee Sanusi – as Deputy Rector of the Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), has thrown Esa-Oke, her hometown, into wild jubilation.
Like an early morning harmattan fire, the news immediately reverberated round the four Quarters of the town, and beyond, while its major social media platforms buzzed by congratulatory messages.
The news had filtered into the town through unofficial sources late on Monday, December 1; the town immediately rose in unison to celebrate her re-election.
It can be revealed by www.esaoketodayonline.com that she had been prevailed upon by some interests to step down for the incumbent Rector earlier in the year.
We also recall that she was the first female to be elected as the Deputy Rector of the institution since it was established at Esa-Oke in 1981.
In the election that took place of December 1, 2025 by the Board of Studies of the institution, Mrs. Ijitona was re-elected to serve a second term.
The Deputy Rector was first elected on January 30, 2023. She completed her two-year term on January 31, 2025.
Mrs. Ijitona, a Chief Lecturer in the Department of General Studies. was born on March 4, 1965, in Esa-Oke, in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.
She was first appointed as a Lecturer 2 in 1993 and became a Chief Lecturer in the year 2008.
The Deputy Rector had both her primary and secondary education in Esa-Oke, where she attended Esa Oke Grammar School.
Mrs. Ijitona holds a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in English Language degree from the University of Jos in 1988, a Master of Education (M.Ed) in Educational Management from the University of Ibadan in 1991,a Master of Art (MA) degree in English Language from the University of Ibadan in 2006 and another Master of Art (MA) degree in Peace and Conflict Studies also from the University of Ibadan in 2014.
She is about to complete her Doctorate degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Ibadan.
She has held different administrative positions in OSCOTECH. Among Them are: Head of Department of Arts and Social Sciences and the Secretary, Central Examination Committee, Director of College Examinations’ Committee, Director of Directorate of Daily Part Time and Chairman, Association of Polytechnic Staff (ASUP) Chapter of OSCOTECH, Esa Oke..
She belongs to a number of professional associations, which include English Scholars Association of Nigeria (ESAN), Institute of Corporate Administration (ICAD), Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) and Society for Peace Studies and Practice (STOP) among others.
In service to her hometown, she is a member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Esa-Oke Central Union (ECU).
A deeply committed Christian leader, Mrs Ijitona is a Diocesan Lay Reader and the Iya Egbe Ijo of Emmanuel Anglican Church, Esa Oke. She is also an anointed teacher of the gospel, lover of youths, who is intensely passionate about Gender-based violence.
She has travelled far and wide to participate in international conferences.
She is blessed with children and grandchildren.
