Condemns Timileyin Ajayi’s Attempt to Rewrite History

The Esa Oke Media Professionals has unequivocally condemned the early Monday morning police invasion of Esa Oke, where about four youths were shot dead, scores others injured.

The group also accused the impostor in the Ido Ayegunle’s chieftaincy imbroglio, one Timileyin Ajayi, of twisting the facts and history of the area to suit the agenda of his promoters.

According to the press release signed by Professor Biodun Oni and Mr. Afolayan Adebiyi, the body has been terribly disturbed since news of the dastardly attack started spreading around since early hours of Monday, 3rd February. They were alarmed by the brutal killings, lootings, maiming in the town over a dispute over a the installation if an Oba Olujudo.

“We won’t fold our arms and watch the barbaric display of the brute force on our youths by the police, who bandits clothed in police uniforms”, the group said in a press release signed by Oni and Afolayan.

“We were shocked by the gory pictures and videos, sent to us by our people. Are we in war? The bandits’ attack in North West were not worst than what we saw happening to our people in Esa Oke”, they said.

The Media Professionals also took an exception to the looting of shops, destruction of bicycles by the policemen and soldiers said to have been drafted to the town to aid the installation of one Timileyin Ajayi, an Ilesa indigene, as the Olujudo of Ido Ajegunle.

The group also condemned the banditry style of abducting the traditional ruler of the district, installed by the Owa Omiran of Esa Oke, in the wee hour of the night.

The abductors were said to have broken into his house along Bola Ige Avenue, Esa Oke around 12:15am Monday morning. He was whisked away and nothing has been heard of him since.

“The shootings and maiming made no sense”, the body posited. This is an unprovoked aggression, because the people of Esa Oke did not attack the policemen or the bandits that came to attack the people”.

“Our people have been wounded seriously, injured. Their heads are bloody right now, but  are not bowed”, they said in the statement.

The group punctured the claims of the Ilesa impostors that Ido Ayegunle is a separate town from Esa Oke. They accused the sponsor of that distortion, one Mr. Ibironke Busuyi, and stated that the area belonged to the people in Asalu’s Compound, Odo Ese Quarters, Esa Oke.

They called on the Governor of Osun State, Mr. Ademola Adeleke to “without further delay ordered the killer police off the town and set up a Judicial Commission of Enquiry into the remote and immediate causes of this mayhem”.

“By properly looking into why the Ilesa people could be claiming a assenting authority over a satellite district in Esa Oke was the only panacea that could prevent further bloodshed in the area”, the group said.

The group further called on the Owa Omiran of Esa Oke, Oba Adeyemi Adediran and the  Owamiran-in-Council to think out of the box in looking for a permanent solution to the dispute over Ido Ajegunle community.
